MOREE Chamber of Commerce will host a Meet the Candidates public forum as part of the lead-up to the Moree Plains local government election polling day.
The forum will be held in the Moree Services Club auditorium between 6pm and 8pm on Tuesday, September 3.
Chamber president Dibs Cush requests attendees to arrive by 5.45pm to ensure the forum starts promptly.
“We hosted a forum in 2021 prior to the last election, which was very well received, and are very excited to host a similar event this year,” Mrs Cush said.
“A forum like this is very important, as it gives the public the opportunity to hear each candidate’s vision for the Moree Plains.”
Candidates will be asked to respond to two set questions.
“Candidates are very busy with other commitments, and some may not be able to attend, and those that can’t be there have been asked to submit responses which will be read out on their behalf,” Mrs Cush said.
“As a community, we are facing many challenges. The future of Moree depends on a united approach to overcoming or, at least, facing these challenges head on.
“We need practical strategies, fiscal responsibility and a desire to see our town progress and prosper. “The nine people we, as a community, elect on September 14 have a huge task ahead and it is important we elect those who can work together to achieve targeted goals,” she said.
Members of the community unable to attend in person can watch a livestream at the Moree Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
Mrs Cush stressed all members of the community are invited to attend.
“This forum is for everyone in the Moree Plains Shire who are interested in all candidates’ platforms and their vison for Moree and district,” she said.
