HUNTER New England Local Health District has appointed Dr Kirsten Molloy as board chair, effective January 1, 2025, succeeding associate professor, Martin Cohen, who steps down after a successful tenure as chair since 2021.
Dr Molloy brings extensive leadership experience to her new role.
With a career spanning executive positions in resources, manufacturing, and supply chain management, she is well-versed in governance, strategic planning, and organisational transformation.
She holds a PhD and an MBA and is a passionate advocate for equity and inclusion, demonstrated through her work with Verity Leadership and the Hunter’s Equal Futures Project.
“I’m honoured to take on the role of board chair and contribute to the continued success of Hunter New England Local Health District,” Dr Molloy said.
“I look forward to working with the board and district’s leadership team to ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare to our communities.”
Mr Cohen made significant contributions to the district, overseeing governance and accountability measures, driving improvements in patient outcomes, and guiding the organisation through the complexities of health service delivery.
“It’s been a privilege to contribute to the vital work of Hunter New England Local Health District,” Mr Cohen said.
“Together, we’ve advanced our goals of patient-centred care and responsive health services.
“I have every confidence in Dr. Molloy’s ability to lead the board and support the district’s continued success.”
