Wee Waa Community and Business Centre draft plans

Jan 4, 2025

NARRABRI Shire Council invites the Wee Waa community to view the draft Wee Waa Community and Business Centre detailed plans.

At the December 2024 Ordinary Council Meeting, Council unanimously approved the design for the Wee Waa Community and Business Centre as well as the design for Boggabri Civic Centre and public exhibition.

Council has engaged with the Wee Waa community over recent years to build an understanding of how they would use and value the Wee Waa Community and Business Centre.

Preliminary work started on the project when the asset was gifted in mid-2021.

Due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, the main engagement activities started in June, 2022 and continued through to August 2023.

Further engagement with councilors, staff, key stakeholders, and the community continued throughout the development of the master plan and into the commencement and completion of works.

The feedback from the community and stakeholders contributed to the development of the detailed plans.

This was based on an understanding of community needs, current and future demand, and consideration of safety, public health and accessibility.

National Australia Bank closed its Wee Waa branch nearly four years ago and gifted the Rose Street premises to Narrabri Shire Council for community use.

Council secured a grant of more than $2.5 million through the Resources for Regions fund to develop the site.

Community members are welcome to attend one or both pop-up events at the following locations:

Wee Waa Newsagency on Thursday, January 16 between 7.30am and 1.30pm and the Wee Waa Community Arts and Cultural Centre on Wednesday, January 23 2025 between 3pm and 6pm.
