MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan has provided an update on crime in Moree.
Mr Moylan is aware crime continues to be an issue, both in Moree and across the entire Northern Tablelands, and is committed to making sure it remains on the agenda of the state government.
“I agree the community needs the courts to sentence offenders properly, particularly in the case of repeat offenders,” Mr Moylan said.
“The amendments to the bail laws are due for review in a few months and I’m hopeful the amendments will be made permanent by the State Government.”
Mr Moylan has also met with local police, police minister Yasmine Catley, the Attorney General and NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research to address Moree crime.
“Since I became the member in August 2024, police numbers in Moree have increased and we have also seen several operational surges,” he said.
“I will continue to push for more. We have also seen a change of Magistrate (local court Judge as they are now known).
“I am in constant contact with police right across our electorate, often in the early hours of the morning.
“They are doing a great job in tough circumstances, and they have my full support. I also call the victims of crime across the electorate when I can.”

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan has provided an update on Moree crime.
Moree is receiving $13.4 million of targeted funding to address underlying causes of crime in the town.
“As most know, I live in town with my young family and I’m keen to do everything I can to address crime in our town, Moree is my home and has been now for over 20 years,” Mr Moylan said.
“There are no easy solutions but please send me an email with suggestions if you think more can be done or if I can do more.”
Mr Moylan welcomes constructive feedback regarding this funding and crime generally.
Please contact the office directly via email – [email protected] – with suggestions.
