LOCAL Government NSW is seeking Expressions of Interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander council staff in New South Wales to join a council working group to assist with the development of the first Closing the Gap toolkit for councils across the state.
The selection of the working group members will be based on having diverse geographical, and expertise on the committee.
A balance of rural, regional and metropolitan council viewpoints and a mixture of roles within councils is desired to ensure the group has a range of expertise and experiences to inform the toolkit development.
Ideal candidates will have:
Experience and understanding of the local government sector;
Experience in working with Aboriginal people, communities and organisations;
Experience with the development of capacity building resources; and
Commitment to the success of Closing the Gap priority reform areas.
The working group will be asked to commit to a minimum of five meetings over 12 months. Attendance can be online and group members will be reimbursed for their time.
This project reports to a steering committee, including the NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations, Aboriginal Affairs NSW and LGNSW.
Representing Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander views and being an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine requirement for this role.
