FULL on or just for fun – everyone’s covered when Moree Riders’ Club holds its final come-and-try registration session for Series 1 on Monday, May 5 at Moree Riders’ Track.
Club president Steele Sutton said the May 5 season opener will allow kids of all ages to register and be graded for divisions, with racing and events commencing Monday, May 12.
“We’ll have plenty of fun activities as well, with a barbecue and refreshments available,” Sutton said.
The Moree Riders’ Club, established last year, started holding weekly come-and-try nights in November at the old velodrome track at the end of Endeavour Lane.
The site has been rebranded Moree Riders’ Track and has undergone significant works and upgrades, thanks to a big group of volunteers.
Assistance has also come from Moree Plains Shire Council as well as local earthmoving contractors, who have kindly donated the use of heavy machinery to establish a bike-riding circuit.
The club has also been boosted by a grant from the NSW Premier’s After-Hours program, which supports young people through community-led initiatives outside of school hours.

Moree Riders’ Club will hold its final come-and-try registration session for Series 1 on Monday, May 5 at Moree Riders’ Track.
Kids of all ages are invited to come along and try out the ever-evolving venue, which suits off-road bikes such as BMX, mountain bikes and gravel bikes.
“The club also has medium-sized bikes we can loan out if needed,” Sutton said.
The weekly Monday sessions are held between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
“We need everyone there early to sign on and register, and this can be done from around 5pm,” Sutton said.
From May 12, fun challenges and race series events will be conducted.
“We’ll have these regularly from 5pm each Monday afternoon until June 2, which will include four rounds of race series,” Sutton said.
On Monday, June 16, the club will hold an awards night and age-race battle.
“We’re really confident we can carry on the success of our first season last year, that saw up to 50 or 60 kids turn up to have fun and race,” Sutton said.
“All participants need an Auscycling license to take part as well as full-face helmets, and the club has some helmets to loan if needed.
“Long sleeve pants and long-sleeved tops are also a must, and riding gloves are ideal as well,” he said.
All riders need an Auscycling license and a free four-week membership trial is available at Become a Member Free Trial.
Riders who have used the four-week free membership can register at Race All Discipline Membership.
All riders aged under 18 must have adult supervision and water bottles are essential.
