Tamworth Regional Gallery Silent Auction starts today

Jun 20, 2025

THE much-loved Tamworth Regional Gallery Silent Auction opens today – and this year, is set to be bigger and better than ever.

Hosted by the Friends of Tamworth Regional Gallery, the 10-day event is the gallery’s biggest fundraiser, and supports the acquisition of new works for the Regional Gallery Collection.

The 2025 Silent Auction starts with a special opening tonight, Friday June 20, at 6pm in the spacious and elegant Gallery One, giving the event a fresh new platform to shine.

With more room, more artists, and more buzz, this year’s auction promises a dynamic celebration of local creativity.

Showcasing a diverse array of works by regional artists working across painting, fibre and textile, ceramics, sculpture, and jewellery, the exhibition is a treasure trove of talent.

From high-profile local names to exciting emerging makers, every piece is an opportunity to take home a unique work of art – and support the gallery in the process.

Bidding opens today and runs for 10 days, closing at 1pm on Sunday, June 29.

TRG Friends member Leonie Kirkwood said the silent auction format is thrilling – guests return time and again during the exhibition to check if they’re still the top bidder.

When the auction ends, the highest bid wins the artwork.

“This is a rare chance to own work from incredible local artists – and know that you’re directly supporting the growth of the gallery’s permanent collection,” she said.

“It’s always fun, social, and a highlight of the calendar.”

All proceeds from the auction go toward funding new acquisitions for the Tamworth Regional Gallery, ensuring the collection continues to reflect the vibrant creative energy of the region.

The Friends of Tamworth Regional Gallery – a volunteer-run, not-for-profit group – is behind the much-anticipated event.

Dedicated to supporting the gallery and nurturing community engagement in the visual arts, Friends welcome new members year-round.

Perks of membership include discounts in the Gallery Shop, artist meet-and-greet opportunities, studio workshops, and involvement in gallery events.
