Moree Services Club Magpies lawn bowls team has progressed to the semi-finals in the BCiB State Fours Grade 4 Pennants Final at Wagga Wagga and today play for the New South Wales title.
Playing in section one of the round-robin competition on Friday and Saturday, Moree Magpies won two from three games and sit in second spot on 20 points behind unbeaten Maitland City (27 points).
The Magpies defeated Tuncurry Sporties in round one and followed with a win against Warilla, from the Illawarra region, in round two.
Moree Magpies, representing the North-West Region, play Beresfield from the Greater Newcastle area at 8.30am today for a spot in the grand-final, held at around 1.30pm.
Also playing for a grand-final berth is St John’s Park from Metro South-West and Taren Point from Metro South-East.
Moree players Leo Adams, Brett Smith, Rod Tighe and Chris Cox lead the player ladder for the series.
Moree Magpies team, managed by Ray Rutledge and Annie Rutledge, includes Ray Dennison, Brett Smith, Chris Cox, Skip Wayne Tighe, Phil Hobday, Merv Tighe, Leo Adams, Skip Leslie Tighe, Mitchell Rutledge, Terrence Thorne, Rod Tighe, Skip Ray Shepherd and reserve Craig Rutledge.

Club president Wayne Tighe said the Moree team was cogging perfectly.
“There are four teams left. The Moree boys played so well today (Saturday), but we’re all buggered, I know that,” he laughed.
The NSW State Grade 4 Pennant competition is administered by each of the state’s 16 regions, with regional championship sides competing in the State Pennant Finals.
The competition is held over three days and has drawn the best bowlers from across New South Wales.
“We’ve been close a couple of times before and all the Moree players are ready for a big day,” Tighe said.
