Moree: Four boys arrested after aggravated break-and-enter

FOUR boys, ranging in ages 12 to 14, have been arrested following an aggravated break-and-enter at a home in Moree early today that saw an 83-year-old woman taken to hospital.

Police were called to a Boston Street house at about 5:30am today, after four people – one allegedly armed with a box cutter – forced their way inside.

An 83-year-old woman, who was the only occupant in the house, was threatened and knocked to the ground. The four people then ran from the house.

Officers attached to New England Police District and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene.

The woman was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital for further treatment.

She was later released with minor injuries.

Following inquiries by police, four boys, ranging in age from 12 years to 14 years, were arrested and taken to Moree Police Station.

A 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy have been dealt with under the Young Offenders’ Act.

A 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy will be charged with breach of bail and aggravated break-and-enter offences.
