ARTISTS with strong connections to the Moree region are being invited to contribute to the arts program for the $105 million Moree Hospital Redevelopment, with Expressions of Interest now open.
New artworks will feature in spaces throughout the hospital to create a healing and supportive environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
There are a range of opportunities available for artists to contribute, including within clinical spaces in the new hospital building.
As part of the arts program, a dedicated opportunity is available for Aboriginal artists to create a Welcome Artwork for the main entry, that aims to recognise the stories and identity of Aboriginal communities in the Moree region.
Artists at all stages of their careers are invited to register their interest.
Artists must have strong community links to the Moree region, include examples of previous artwork, and be available to work with the project team to deliver the artworks in 2026.
Health Infrastructure is partnering with regional arts development organisation, Arts North West to launch the expression of interest at the Moree Hospital Redevelopment.
Rural and regio0nal Health Infrastructure executive director, Amanda Bock, said the arts program offers a unique opportunity for local artists to be involved in the hospital redevelopment and reflect Moree’s unique culture and community within the facility’s design.
“Integrating art and storytelling into health facilities is important as it promotes healing and wellbeing, and contributes to a more positive experience for patients, staff and visitors,” she said.
“We look forward to working with local artists to develop artworks that will be featured in public and clinical areas of the redeveloped Moree Hospital.”
The EOI will close on Friday, 31 October 2025. For further information and to register interest visit, Moree Hospital Redevelopment Arts Program.
Artists are encouraged to contact acting executive director, Miranda Heckenberg, via email at [email protected] or call 0493 316463 if they require support developing their submission.
Health Infrastructure’s Arts in Health program guides the inclusion of arts in the NSW healthcare system to improve consumer, staff and carer experiences. The commissioning of artworks is in collaboration with NSW Health staff and the community.
