2025 NSW Koori Rugby League Knockout decided today

After two days of do-or-die rugby league, four men’s teams and four women’s teams face off in the semi-finals of the 2025 Koori Knockout at Tamworth’s Riverside Sporting Complex today.

Newcastle Yowies, who beat Newcastle All-Blacks 14-12 yesterday, play Baryugal Descendants on Field 1 at 9.10am.

Baryugal Descendants announced their semi-finals arrival with a thumping 22-6 win against La Perouse Panthers 2 yesterday.

Last year’s winners, Walgett Aboriginal Connection, are well and truly in the mix again after yesterday’s narrow 24-22 win against Wiradjuri Aboriginal Rivers.

WAC, competition hosts and favourites to win back-to-back knockouts, play Bourke Warriors on Field 1 at 10.25am.

Bourke Warriors ended Toomelah Tigers’ hopes of a semi-finals spot with an 18-6 win yesterday.

In the opening round on Saturday, Moree Boomerangs 1 drew the bye and Moree Boomerangs 2 left Yuin Connections scoreless with a 20-nil win.

On Sunday, Moree Boomerangs 1 were beaten 7-6 by Newcastle All-Blacks and Tweed Connexions toppled Moree Boomerangs 2, 28-4.

In the women’s competition, Moree Boomerangs were beaten 22-6 by Newcastle Yowies after beating Toomelah Tigers 8-6 in the second round.

In today’s women’s comp, Bourke Warriors play Wiradjuri Aboriginal Rivers at 9.10am on Field 2 and Newcastle Yowies play Redfern All-Blacks at 10am, also on Field 2.

In junior games, Moree Boomerangs under-15s were beaten 26-6 by Darkinjung Waters in round one and Toomelah Tigers under-15s boys were beaten 46-nil by Wiradjuri Aboriginal Rivers.

Also in round one, Mungindi Grasshoppers under-15s boys beat Koori Warriors 24-6.

Moree Boomerangs under-13 boys whacked Cabbage Tree Island 40-4 but were beaten 16-nil by Wiradjuri Aboriginal Rivers in the second round.

Moree Boomerangs under-15s boys were scoreless, 10-nil, against Newcastle All-Blacks.

Mungindi Grasshoppers under-17s boys were beaten 10-6 by 2829 Gathering and their under-15s boys went down narrowly to Tamworth Crows, 12-10.

Toomelah Tigers under-13s boys suffered a second round 32-14 loss to Tamworth Crows.

The 2025 Koori Knockout has drawn thousands of spectators to Tamworth to watch 170 do-or-die, rapid-fire football games across three days.

Juniors through to seniors – men and women – have slogged it out over the long weekend, with some big NRL names taking the field.

South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Tallis Duncan, Tyrone Munro and Cody Walker have made appearances, watched by Rabbitohs’ coach, the legendary Wayne Bennett.

Munro reunited with Moree Boomerangs, along with Dane Gagai, from Newcastle Knights.

Gold Coast Titans’ second-rower Josh Patson and five-eighth Jayden Campbell have made appearances, with Campbell running on with Walgett Aboriginal Connection.

NITV is broadcasting the 2025 Koori Knockout, with full day match coverage of the semi-finals live and direct.

The telecast, also available on SBS On Demand, will be screen today from 9am.
