PCYC Armidale kicking goals with upgrades

Nov 13, 2025

HUNDREDS of people walk through the doors of the Armidale PCYC every week to take part in the many activities on offer.

Those activities have received a significant boost with Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan delivering $26,950 through the Community Building Partnership program to re-sand and line-mark the sports floor.

Mr Moylan said keeping a facility up to date, like the Armidale PCYC, is incredibly important to provide somewhere for the region’s youth to go.

“The PCYC has a long history of giving young people from the Armidale region somewhere to go to be active, engage in sports, leadership and education programs, and somewhere they can feel safe,” Mr Moylan said.

“They also provide support for at-risk youth, foster cultural understanding and provide a range of accessible activities for kids to get involved in including basketball, futsal, netball, pickle ball, and more.

“It is important the facilities are up to standard to ensure the centre’s workers and volunteers can run these programs.

“By upgrading the sports floor, the community’s youth will continue to have somewhere safe to go and engage with these activities.

“Congratulations to the PCYC for being successful in the funding application and thank you for all the work you do within the community.”

PCYC Armidale’s manager Sam Davis said the existing sports floor has deteriorated and in desperate need of a revamp.

“As PCYC continues to expand its programs and implement new community activities aimed at engaging a broader demographic of young people, the refurbishment of this facility is essential to ensure people have a space that they feel comfortable and proud of,” he said.

“The club currently has 700 active members and facilitates a number of one-off programs for the community throughout the year.

“All members will benefit from the resurfacing of the court to ensure the court is safe and up to playing standards, the repurposing of the court lines will allow the club to deliver new programs for the community.

“The facility is home to such a diverse range of actives tailoring something for everyone, the space is used by a number of court sports including the popular pickleball, our amazing morning boxing program to sword fighting.”
