MOREE Boars Rugby League Club’s 107-year legacy will be honoured in the new year, with the roll-out of limited edition retro-style jerseys to celebrate the club’s deep history.
Club loyalist Jaimie Ryan and Boars first-grade prop, Jack Mitchell, hope to see the jerseys in full production soon.
“I had this idea to design an old-school, retro-style Moree Boars jersey – something that represents one of the oldest sporting clubs in our town,” Ryan said.
“We wanted to create a jersey that not only honours the legacy of our 107-year-old club, but to also engage the community and create some positive community spirit.
“We’ve taken parts of jerseys from high-performing years and combined them into one to celebrate the history of the club.
“We hope to see the jersey worn around town, not just on game days but throughout the cooler months with a pride for our community,” she said.
Ryan was inspired to create the jerseys after extensively travelling across the United States.
“When I was travelling through the US and visited the small towns in the south, I noticed they all sold their merchandise to tourists,” Ryan said.

She hopes to be able to supply Tourism Moree with jerseys once production starts.
“We’re hoping to sell some as souvenirs to travellers at the tourist information centre,” Ryan said.
The jerseys, featuring the names of past sponsors Tommy Blackburn and Ranbuild, are currently available pre-sale.
“Once we hit 100 sales, our supplier will start production,” Ryan said.
“We really feel it’s a positive thing, not only for the local community, but something for all the old boys who have moved – something they can wear in memory of their good old days of rugby league in Moree,” she said.
The club is enjoying a well-crafted resurgence, reminiscent of past years when the Boars were an indominable force across the north-west.
The reigning Group 4 premiers have won the past two first-grade grand-finals, and will soon start preparing for a tilt at the hat-trick next season.
The club will also host the Western Challenge knock-out on February 28 next year, with a prize pool of $20,000.
The 2025 challenge earlier this year, sponsored by ABCARE and won by Cabbage Tree Island, drew nearly 30 teams from across New South Wales and southern Queensland.
Next year’s edition is expected to top that.
The Moree Boars retro-style jerseys can be pre-ordered and will be available in January. Pre-ordering can be lodged HERE. The site’s access code is BOARS.
