Moree on demand bus service secured for another five years

Dec 2, 2025

MOREE’s Cavanagh Bus and Coach on demand bus service has been secured for another five years, with Transport for NSW confirming the successful completion of a competitive procurement process.

This will ensure a seamless and uninterrupted service for the Moree community through to the end of 2030.

Cavanagh Bus and Coach manager, Paul Hoffman, said the Moree On Demand service will continue to provide a convenient, responsive, and accessible transport option for the community.

“We are proud to helping residents, making travel simpler for everyone. We look forward to seeing the service continue to grow and supporting Moree residents reach key destinations with ease for many years to come,” he said.

Since the launch of the pilot service in November, 2018, there have been 515,000 successful trips, with 31,000 trips recorded in the 2025-2026 financial year to date.

Patronage was lower during the COVID-19 period, but it has steadily increased and now exceeds 7500 trips per month.

Transport for NSW’s Executive Director of Bus Transformation, Mr David Callahan, said Moree’s on demand service provides vital community access to employment, medical care, social connections and shopping.

“We’re delighted to confirm that the current operator will continue,” Mr Callahan said.

“Their strong relationships with residents and proven reliability make this a great outcome for the Moree community.

“The community can expect the same high-quality, on demand service they’ve come to rely on,” he said.

Services run seven days a week – including public holidays – from 7am to 7pm.
