THREE people will face court charged with several drug-related and other offences at Gilgai, south of Inverell.
At about 4pm on New Year’s Eve, officers attached to New England Police District, assisted by the NSW Police Rural Crime Prevention Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Hall Steet, Gilgai, as part of an ongoing investigation into prohibited drug activities in the area.
During the search, police allegedly seized several knives suspected of being prohibited weapons, an amount of cocaine, cannabis and cash, as well as unauthorised fireworks.
At the address, officers located and arrested two 19-year-olds – a woman and a man – as well as a 27-year-old man.
All three were taken to Inverell Police Station.
The 19-year-old woman was charged with supply prohibited drug greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity; possess prohibited drug; cultivate prohibited plant less than or equal to small quantity; and possess, supply or make explosive for unlawful purpose.
She was refused bail and faced Bail Division Court 5 on New Year’s Day, where she was granted conditional bail to appear before Inverell Local Court on Thursday, January 22.
The 27-year-old man was charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, supply prohibited drug greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity, and possess, supply or make explosive for unlawful purpose.
He was refused bail and faced Bail Division Court 5 on New Year’s Day, where he was formally refused bail to appear before Moree Local Court on Tuesday, January 20.
The younger man was charged with possess, supply or make explosive for unlawful purpose and was granted conditional bail to appear before Inverell Local Court on Thursday, January 29.
