Barraba: Fatal single-vehicle crash

A man has died following a single vehicle crash near Barraba, in the New England region of New South Wales.

At about 11.45pm last night, police were called to McIntyre Road, Barraba – about 90km north of Tamworth – following reports a vehicle had left the road and crashed.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle – believed to be a 25-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

However, he died at the scene.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District established a crime scene which has now been forensically examined.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

In an unrelated accident, a woman died and three people were hospitalised following a single-vehicle crash in the state’s south yesterday afternoon.

At about 4pm on Saturday 24 January 2026, emergency services were called to Bynedale Road, Rand – about 60km northwest of Albury – following reports a car had left the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver – a 31-year-old woman – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

However, she died at the scene.

Two passengers – a 46-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl – were both airlifted to hospital in critical condition.

The third passenger – a 14-year-old boy – was also taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
