ALL public schools in Moree will hold school development days on selected days this week, with Term 1 classes starting next Monday, February 9 at Moree East Public School, Moree Public School and Moree Secondary College.

Moree Christian School students will arrive for their first day back on Tuesday, February 3.

St Philomena’s School’s first day back for all students is Thursday, February 5, with students required to wear full blue school uniform.

Sports uniforms are required Friday, February 6.

Moree Public School’s uniform shop will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week (February 4-5-6) from 9am to midday.

Moree East Public School uniforms can be collected from the front office Thursday and Friday, February 5-6, between midday and 2pm.

Kids will start the new term next Monday with the Breakfast Club at 8am.

The Moree Secondary College front office will be open for all enquiries from Wednesday, February 4, with uniforms available.

Parents and carers of Moree Secondary College Year 3 and Year 5 students are reminded applications are now open for students looking to challenge themselves through Aurora College in 2027.

Aurora College offers a unique opportunity for rural and regional students to access academically selective classes while remaining enrolled at their local government school.

Applications can be made at Aurora College 2027.

Transport NSW reminds motorists school zone 40kph limits are now in place and include school development days, or pupil-free days.

Transport for NSW executive director of transport safety, Chadi Chalhoub, said while the first few days of the term are traditionally school development days for teachers, children may also be returning and that will continue to increase throughout the week.

We expect to see an increase in activity around schools as teachers and students make their way back to the classroom for 2026,” Mr Chalhoub said.

“There are more than 6800 school zone flashing lights in place across New South Wales to let motorists know they are about to enter a school zone,” Mr Chalhoub said.

“It is important motorists follow the rules to ensure every child and teacher gets to school and returns home safely. The best way to do this is by following the speed limit, watching out for children when they are crossing the road, and slowing down and looking out as they get on or off buses.”
