MOREE Plains Shire Council, in collaboration with the Moree Seniors Week Committee, is calling for nominations for the 2026 Moree Plains Senior Citizen of the Year Award.
Do you know a community member aged 60 years or over who makes a meaningful difference in the lives of others?
Now is the time to recognise their contribution by nominating them for this prestigious award.
Moree Plains Shire mayor, Susannah Pearse, said the theme for NSW Seniors Festival 2026, Live Life in Colour, is a wonderful theme.
“Being named Senior Citizen of the Year is a special honour, one that recognises a lifetime of service and selflessness,” Cr Pearse said.

“There are so many senior citizens, in our community and our lives, that are deserving of this recognition, so I encourage everyone to put forward someone who would make for a worthy winner.
“More than just about celebrating a winner, Moree Seniors Week is such an important part of our local calendar – a time to encourage seniors to reflect on their life’s journey, embrace creativity, form new connections, and enjoy an active, fulfilling lifestyle through new experiences and learning opportunities.”
Nominations for Senior Citizen of the Year 2026 are open until 5pm, Friday, March 6.
Community members are encouraged to nominate seniors who have made a significant contribution to the Moree Plains, whether it be through volunteering, community service, or other inspiring acts.
Forms can be obtained online, through the QR Code on this page or by visiting the Moree Community Library.
The Moree Seniors Festival will be held across the Moree Plains from March 9-14, celebrating the invaluable senior community across the shire.
A program will be released in the coming days. Nominations can lodged online HERE.
