RESIDENTS across the Moree Plains Shire are encouraged to start their spring cleaning a few months early and take advantage of the free bulky waste collection service in March.

It’s now time to clear out the shed, tidy up the yard and think about getting rid of old furniture and whitegoods as Moree Plains Shire Council calls on registrations for its March bulky waste collection.

The collection allows residents to place large household items on the kerb for removal at no additional cost.

Items typically accepted include old furniture, mattresses, whitegoods, scrap metal and other oversized household waste that cannot be disposed of through regular weekly bin services.

The bulky waste program not only helps residents declutter, but also plays an important role in maintaining neighbourhoods and reducing illegal dumping across the shire.

Registrations are now open, with residents encouraged to submit a request via the online form before March 6 at Moree Plains Shire March Bulky Waste Collection Registration.

Alternatively, residents can call the waste hotline on 1300 736719.

JR Richards Moree operations manager, Mark Adams, encourages shire residents to register for the free waste collection service.
“Last year was very busy and we expect the same sort of response this year,” Mr Adams said.

“I urge everyone to book their spots and have their waste organised as per requirements set out by council and JR Richards.
“Again, only household items can be collected, and the items need to be separated accordingly.

“We also recommend bulky waste items are put out on the weekend before the scheduled collection date,” he said.
All information regarding collection dates and schedules, as well as what type of bulky waste can be collected, is available on the Moree Plains Shire Council website at Bulky Waste Collection.

Collections across Moree township and surrounds, including Gurley, Gwydirville and Bendygleet, will commence Monday, March 9, with bookings closing March 6.

Moree villages, including Ashley, Biniguy, Boggabilla, Boomi, Garah, Mungindi, Pallamallawa, Weemelah, Vitonga Road and Yarraman will have collections from Monday, March 16, with bookings required by March 6.

Council asks registered residents to separate and stack items into four piles on the kerb the weekend before collection starts.

Large items can include general household waste, green waste, metals, whitegoods and e-waste.  Only a total of three cubic metres – 3m x 1m x 1m – of waste per household is permitted. Items should not be put out or added to the existing piles even if waste remains, and items must be no heavier than a two-person lift.
