WELL-travelled hoop Brooke Stower returns after a lengthy absence from one of her favourite tracks – nearly three years to the day, in fact – with a strong book of six rides at Moree tomorrow.
Stower, who last rode at Moree’s corresponding March meeting in 2023, has fond memories of the circuit, where she linked up with former Moree trainer Peter Sinclair for numerous wins.
Sinclair and Stower teamed up to win a Moree Cup with Upstart as well as a memorable treble at the 2019 Christmas twilight races with Queen’s Song, Let Him Fly and Danigree.
There’s been a lot of water under the bridge since, with Sinclair now training at Murwillumbah and Stower sharing her time between Queensland and New South Wales – and she doesn’t mind logging the miles, either.
In the last two weeks, she’s ridden at Gatton, Dalby, Gunnedah, Warwick, Armidale and Dubbo twice.
“I’m based at Warren in New South Wales and Toowoomba when in Queensland – just depends on where I can get the rides – and I’m very thankful for the support of all trainers since my return to New South Wales,” Stower said.
“The season has been good. I was based up north on a station about 120 kilometres north of Julia Creek and I’ve come back south, away from the wet season.
“I’ve been super-lucky to be able to race back here in New South Wales and I’ve been very lucky with winners.
“I really love racing on New South Wales country tracks and I’m as hungry as ever,” she smiled.
Stower, now managed by Cody Morgan, landed a winning double at the Moree March meeting three years ago – Sinclair’s Katgully Red and Jade for Jane Clement – and is keen to resume tomorrow where she left off.

Peter Sinclair and Brooke Stower at Moree races. Stower hasn’t ridden at Moree since March, 2023 and Sinclair now trains at Murwillumbah.
“I’m very excited to be back at Moree and very lucky to have six good rides,” Stower said.
“I’ve had a lot of success at the track over the years, so hopefully that continues on Tuesday.”
Stower, fresh from three rides at Dubbo yesterday, rides By Linda for Kelly Barber in the 950m Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Moree Support Group Maiden and Doug Fernando’s Jet Empress in the 1200m Jock’s Hire BM-66 Handicap. She also jumps on Akuma for Sally Torrens in the 1400m Moree Show Society Maiden Plate and Imagina in the 1600m Moree Rural Fire Service BM-58 Handicap. Mark Mason legs Stower aboard Midnight Rhythm in the 1200m Patrons’ Country Boosted Maiden while Vizstar, trained by Jayden Sims, has drawn perfectly in gate four for Stower in the Moree on a Plate Class 1 Handicap.
“Midnight Rhythm will benefit from its first start and has drawn well in barrier two,” Stower said.
“Vizstar is very consistent and has also drawn well. He can either lead of sit in behind, and he’s hard and fit, ready to win again.”
