Jock’s Hire continues strong following across the Moree district

Jun 26, 2026

FOR more than 20 years, Jock’s Hire has been a familiar name in Moree, supplying equipment and machinery to builders, contractors, farmers, event organisers and home handymen across the region.

Operating from its Coolibah Street premises, the locally-owned business has grown into one of the district’s leading equipment hire companies, offering a wide range of machinery and tools for projects large and small.

Owned and managed by Todd Mitchell, Jock’s Hire has built its reputation on reliability, practical advice and what Mitchell describes as “good old-fashioned customer service”.

Since opening in 2005, the business has steadily expanded its range of hire equipment to meet the changing needs of customers throughout the Moree Plains and surrounding districts.

Today, Jock’s Hire stocks equipment across a broad range of categories.

Customers can hire earthmoving machinery, access equipment, concreting tools, cleaning equipment, garden and lawn machinery, generators, compressors, pumps and accessories, as well as ladders, trestles and scaffolding.

The business also supplies site sheds, portable toilets, temporary fencing, builders’ tools and party hire equipment for community events and private functions.

The company’s extensive inventory means it can cater for everything from major construction projects and rural developments to backyard renovations and community celebrations.

Recent additions to the hire fleet have included advanced security solutions such as Siteguard solar-powered camera towers, designed to provide surveillance for construction sites, farms and commercial premises.

Todd Mitchell’s right-hand man, Ben Taylor, can help customers with all their hire needs at Jock’s Hire in Moree.

Todd says Jock’s Hire aims to ensure customers have access to the right equipment for every job.

“We have a diverse customer base that includes builders, contractors, tradespeople, farmers, local organisations and residents undertaking do-it-yourself projects,” he said.

“We also provide delivery options and practical support to help customers safely operate hired equipment.”

Beyond commercial operations, Jock’s Hire has become well known for its strong support of community organisations and events throughout the Moree district.

Todd has long believed local businesses should play an active role in supporting the communities in which they operate.

Through sponsorships, equipment support and volunteer involvement, Jock’s Hire regularly assists sporting clubs, community groups and regional events.

One of Todd’s most significant community roles is his involvement with the Moree Boars Rugby League Football Club.

As club president, he has dedicated countless hours to helping sustain and grow rugby league in the district.

His contribution extends well beyond administration, with Mitchell widely recognised as one of the club’s driving forces.

And the results are there – Moree Boars first-grade has won the past two Group 4 grand-finals and are well on target to make it a three-peat this season

Todd’s commitment to community service was recognised earlier this year when he was named Moree’s Citizen of the Year at the 2026 Australia Day awards in Moree.

The honour acknowledged his long-standing efforts to support local sport, community activities and charitable initiatives, as well as his dedication to the Moree Boars.

Todd’s leadership was also evident in the organisation of the 2026 Western Challenge Knock-Out rugby league carnival, which attracted hundreds of players and thousands of spectators to Moree. Jock’s Hire was among the businesses supporting the event, continuing a tradition of backing activities that bring economic and social benefits to the region.

Those who know Todd Mitchell say his success in business has always been closely linked to his commitment to the community.

While Jock’s Hire has over the past two decades emerged a major equipment supplier for the north-west, the business has retained its local focus and family-operated approach.

Located at 8 Coolibah Street, Moree, Jocks Hire continues to provide equipment hire services six days a week, helping contractors, farmers, community groups and residents complete projects efficiently and safely.
