Gunnedah: Man charged with multiple alleged offences following party

A man has been charged following an alleged assault in Gunnedah.

Just after 1:45am Sunday, emergency services were called to a rural property in Kelvin Road, Gunnedah, following reports of an assault.

On arrival, officers attached to Oxley Police District were told a 19-year-old man allegedly attended the location earlier in the evening where an alteration is alleged to have occurred with a group attending a gathering.

The man left the property. However, he returned a short time later with two 18-year-old men, allegedly armed with a machete and a baseball bat.

Following a confrontation, the three men left the scene but were arrested nearby a short time later.

A 23-year-old man suffered a leg injury and was taken to Gunnedah Hospital in a stable condition.

A 53-year-old man suffered a head and neck injury and was taken to Tamworth Hospital before being released.

Several other people sustained minor injuries.

The 19-year-old was taken to Tamworth Hospital for an arm injury before being taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with reckless wounding in company (four counts) affray (two counts), stalk/intimidate intend cause fear physical harm, armed with intent commit indictable offence, and use offensive weapon in company with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 5 tomorrow.

The two 18-year-old men were released pending further inquiries.

A crime scene was established and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
