Yelarbon officially recognised as RV-friendly town

Nov 13, 2025

YELARBON has achieved official designation as an RV Friendly Town from the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia, joining a national network of destinations catering to recreational vehicle travellers from across the country.

The status is also a significant milestone supporting regional tourism.

Yelarbon offers a range of facilities that meet the eligibility requirements, including a public dump point, potable water access, affordable campsites, a local service station open seven days and in-town parking for Recreational Vehicles.

Goondiwindi Regional Council mayor, Lawrence Springborg, said the recognition is a credit to the community and its efforts to position Yelarbon as a welcoming destination for drive tourism.

“This is a significant milestone for Yelarbon, and it reflects the community’s dedication to creating a visitor-friendly, vibrant stopover for travellers,” Cr Springborg said.

“RV travellers contribute meaningfully to the local economies, and being RV-friendly will further encourage visitors to stay and explore everything the town has to offer.”

The designation will see Yelarbon featured on the CMCA website, listed in the Clubs GeoWiki database, and showcased in The Wanderer magazine.

CMCA will also supply two official RV Friendly Town roadside signs to be installed at township entry points.

Cr Springborg acknowledged the work of local groups, especially the Yelarbon Recreation Grounds committee, who form part of the Yelarbon Community Consultative Committee.

Members of the YCCC have played a leading role in elevating the town’s tourism appeal through initiatives such as the Yelarbon silo artwork, lagoon area enhancements, community-driven beautification and information sharing projects.

“Yelarbon has shown how grassroots community effort can transform a small town into a recognised tourism destination,” Cr Springborg said.

“This recognition is not just about infrastructure – it’s also a reflection of the willingness of Yelarbon residents to invest in their town’s future and create opportunities through tourism.”

Goondiwindi Regional Council will now collaborate with CMCA to install RV Friendly Town signage and ensure visitor maps and information reflect the new designation.
