TICKETS for the 2026 Gravesend Long Lunch are selling fast.

The popular event on Saturday, March 7 is now in its fourth year and continues a much-loved tradition that celebrates community, connection and the ongoing support of Gravesend Public School.

The event brings together past and present students, families, staff and friends of the school for an afternoon of food, entertainment and shared purpose.

Gravesend Public School principal, Jackie Todd, said the long lunch is an important event for the village of Gravesend.

“It is a vital fundraiser that aids the learning and educational opportunities of all our students,” Jackie said.

“Our very proactive P&C works with the school with the decision-making of the use of funds, ensuring all students are given the best education possible.

“Fundraising like this helps combat barriers to rural and remote education, equity and the values of public education,” she said.

In the short time the Long Lunch has been on the menu at Gravesend, money raised has helped cover the cost of an outdoor covered walkway, as well as an alfresco kitchen that is used daily by students and staff.

The Long Lunch has also subsidised excursion costs to support families and contributed to funding a part-time teacher.

Gravesend Public School teacher, Amber Barnett, said many businesses across the district continue to generously support the event through raffle prizes, auction items and cash donations.

“Their wonderful generosity demonstrates the strength of community support for Gravesend Public School,” Amber said.

In keeping with tradition, past and present students take part in the event formalities and assist throughout the day.

“This helps ensure guests are generously catered for and enjoy a plentiful and memorable dining experience,” Amber said.

Year 5 Gravesend Public School Student Leader, Cybelle Barwick, said the long lunch is a great event.

“It gives the school and all students a lot of great opportunities, such as all of our excursions, and it is a great place for the community of Gravesend to catch up and get together,” Cybelle said.

Guests are invited to gather from 1pm on Saturday, March 7, for a relaxed and enjoyable long lunch set within the Gravesend Cricket Grounds.

The welcoming venue boasts a recently established picket fence, adding charm, character and a classic country feel.

This year’s event will be catered by Relish Catering, led by Treen O’Brien, a highly accomplished small country catering business.

Renowned for delivering exceptional country hospitality, Relish Catering promises a thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented long lunch food experience.

Kurt Larkham, a past favourite, will provide live entertainment.

He returns by popular demand to once again create a lively and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
