It’s Showtime!

2026 Moree Show chock-full of events, entertainment and attractions

Mar 22, 2026

THE countdown is on for one of the north-west’s most anticipated community events of the year, with the 2026 Moree Show set to deliver two full days of entertainment, competition and good, old-fashioned country hospitality when the gates swing back on April 10-11.

The historic Moree Show, first held in 1874, remains one of the district’s longest-running traditions, showcasing the best of the region’s agriculture, talent and community spirit.

Attractions include Muster Dogs, featuring Marlene Brewer and her border collie, Hudson, as well as the traditional Friday night rodeo, this year with a changed format.

Moree Show Society president Brendan Munn said the 2026 program is packed from morning until late evening both days, with events and attractions visitors of all ages will enjoy.

“Marlene and Hudson will be special guests at the Show. They’ll do demonstrations with sheep and will also be available for meet-and-greets and photo opportunities with fans,” Mr Munn said.

The countdown is on for the 2026 Moree Show, scheduled for April 10-11.

“People may recognise Marlene and Hudson from season three of Muster Dogs, where we watched their journey from the early days of training right through to developing into a strong, hardworking partnership.”

The Friday night rodeo, scheduled to jump from the chutes at 6pm, is expected to draw good entries.

“The rodeo will have a slightly different format this year,” Mr Munn said.

“A junior-novice rodeo will be held and we’ve purchased two buckles – one for champion novice saddle bronc, and one for champion novice bull ride,” he said.

Novice saddle bronc and novice bull ride each offer $1000 prize money, with junior bull ride for ages 14 to under-18 worth $500.

The mini bull ride for ages 11 to under-14 is worth $200 and a mini bull ride for ages eight to under-11 offers $150.

Entries for all rodeo events open March 24.

There will be plenty of horse sports at the 2026 Moree Show.

Show society secretary Karen Munn said the committee opted for an earlier date this year, with plenty of new attractions.

“Our usual date would have seen the Saturday of the Show – the second day – coincide with Anzac day, which would have made it impossible for us,” Mrs Munn said.

She said the 2026 format has plenty to offer.

“This year, we have Noah’s Racing Pigs and Jet Pack Entertainment as the main attractions and we’ll have a train that will travel around the showground over both days as well.

“There will also be a snake display and an on-stage and roving clown for the kids as well,” she said.

Agriculture remains at the heart of this year’s show, and livestock competitions will once again be a major drawcard.

Cattle breeders from across the north-west are expected to compete in the popular cattle judging events, while sheep, goat and poultry sections will also highlight the strength of district producers. The judging rings will be busy across both days and equestrian events will also feature prominently.

Competitors travel from throughout regional New South Wales and southern Queensland to compete.

The horse program includes show jumping, hack classes and junior rider events.

Inside the pavilions, visitors will find a colourful display of community creativity.

The grand parade is a crowd favourite at the Moree Show.

The show’s pavilion competitions traditionally attract hundreds of entries, with sections covering everything from baking and preserves to photography, handicrafts, art and school displays.

Rows of home-baked cakes, prize vegetables and carefully stitched quilts provide a reminder that the Moree Show celebrates the skills and passions of the wider community.

Children’s entries are expected to be a highlight again this year, with local schools contributing artwork, craft projects and agricultural displays that demonstrate the talent of the district’s younger generation.

For families, the showgrounds will transform into a bustling carnival atmosphere, with sideshow alley featuring a wide range of rides and games, fairy floss and dagwood dogs.

Each year, the Moree Show brings together farmers, families, businesses and visitors from across the region.

From the livestock rings to the pavilion displays and the bright lights of sideshow alley, the 2026 Moree Show promises to deliver another memorable weekend.

“We’ve again put together some great, diverse entertainment the whole family will enjoy,” Mr Munn said.
