A $5000 grant from Moree Plains Shire Council will ensure the popular and flavoursome Moree on a Plate food and wine festival goes from strength to strength.
Moree on a Plate, now in its 23rd year, will be held from 10am this Saturday, May 9, at Moree racecourse.
Moree Plains Shire mayor Susannah Pearse said the event is Moree’s annual festival of flavour.
“Moree on a Plate is renowned as an event which always delights families and this year will be no different,” Cr Pearse said.
Moree on a Plate this year will infuse a global twist on local flavours, with celebrated chef Warren Mendes announced a festival highlight.

“The Mothers’ Day weekend event is sure to attract plenty of foodies coming to see celebrity chef Warren Mendes,” Cr Pearse said. She said the event is a red letter day on the Shire’s calendar, and has been boosted this year by a $5000 grant from Moree Shire Plains Council’s Events Partnership Fund.
“The $5000 contribution of support is to help ensure this quality event continues to deliver year after year since its inception in 2003, and shows council continues its support for local events and businesses. Of course, there will be a smorgasbord of fresh produce and delicious meals from growers near and far,” Cr Pearse said.”
Organisers have been promoting Moree on a Plate across the shire and beyond, and over the years the festival has become a tourism destination that boosts the Moree economy. Kids’ Korner is a great opportunity for community involvement, with many local schools and organisations using the festival as a fundraising platform.
From cake decorating to sensory tables, Kids’ Korner organisers Meg Moses, Cara Moore, Urshula Bailey and Camilla Cutcliffe have been cooking up a storm.
“We’re excited for what will be another great festival celebrating and showcasing all the positives our community has to offer,” Cr Pearse said.
