Bonshaw: Investigation underway into stolen bee hives

POLICE are appealing for public assistance after beehive boxes containing bees were stolen from a rural property near Bonshaw, about 100 kilometres north of Inverell.

Sometime between Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, May 6, 80 beehive boxes – including active bee colonies – were stolen from a rural property on Bruxner Way, 15 kilometres west of Bonshaw.

Police have been told the estimated value of the boxes and bee colonies is about $150,000.

The boxes are described as predominately cream in colour, featuring blue base boards, blue and white lids and red clear boards.

Officers from the Rural Crime Prevention Team have commenced an investigation.

Police are appealing for public assistance after these beehive boxes containing bees were stolen from a rural property near Bonshaw.
