Moree Women’s Refuge seeking full-time case worker

May 25, 2026

MOREE Women’s Refuge is seeking a full-time case worker at Ngala House.

The position offers an opportunity for an experienced and compassionate professional to support women and children experiencing domestic and family violence while helping deliver essential refuge and outreach services.

The role focuses on providing frontline support and case management to clients while also helping ensure the service operates safely, effectively and professionally.

Working under the direction of management, the successful applicant will play a key role in overseeing intake processes, risk assessments, safety planning, referrals, case allocation and exit planning. The position also involves providing direct support to clients facing complex and high-risk situations.

Ngala House manager Carmel Sullivan said the case worker will work closely with other staff members to maintain professional standards, best practice approaches and quality documentation across the service.

“A significant part of the role involves collaboration with external agencies and organisations, including courts, police, housing providers, health services and other support agencies, to achieve positive outcomes for clients,” Ms Sullivan said.

“The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining accurate case notes, reporting requirements, workplace health and safety obligations and risk management procedures.”

In addition to client support duties, the position includes participation in after-hours, weekend and public holiday rosters, as well as assisting with the day-to-day operation of refuge services.

Ngala House is seeking applicants who can balance direct client support with leadership, co-ordination and accountability while working in what is recognised as a sensitive and often challenging environment.

Applicants with experience in domestic and family violence services, homelessness support or broader community services are encouraged to apply, particularly those with experience in case management and supporting clients with complex needs.

“Strong communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships with clients, colleagues and external agencies will be essential,” Ms Sullivan said.

The position also requires sound knowledge of trauma-informed practice, child-centred approaches and maintaining professional boundaries when working with vulnerable clients.

Applicants should also have good technological skills and experience using Microsoft 365 systems.

Essential requirements for the role include holding a current NSW Driver Licence, Working With Children Check and Current First Aid Certificate.

Applicants must also hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Community Services or a related field.

“Previous experience working within a refuge environment or holding relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded during the selection process,” Ms Sullivan said.

Applications are now open, with prospective candidates required to submit a cover letter addressing the essential criteria, a current curriculum vitae and contact details for two referees.

Applications should be emailed to manager Carmel Sullivan at [email protected].

Applications close at close of business on Friday, June 5, 2026.

“The role offers an opportunity for the successful applicant to contribute to critical support services while helping women and children experiencing domestic and family violence access safety, support and pathways to recovery,” Ms Sullivan said.
