A 14-year-old boy has been granted conditional bail following a police pursuit in in Moree at the weekend.
Officers attached to New England Police District were conducting random breath testing in Moree at about 6.10am Saturday, June 20, when a sedan failed to stop as directed.
A pursuit was initiated, with the vehicle continuing through several residential streets before it collided with an electricity pole on Anne Street.
No injuries were reported.
The driver – a 14-year-old boy – allegedly fled from the vehicle into a nearby unit complex.
Officers arrested the teen at a nearby residence and took him to Moree Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and breach of bail.
He appeared before a children’s court on Saturday, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before a children’s court on Thursday, July 23.
Meanwhile, police are appealing for information after a man was shot multiple times with a nail gun at a property at Tamworth at the weekend.
Emergency services were called to a home on Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth, shortly before 11pm Saturday with reports of an assault.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District arrived and found a man in his 40s with nail gun wounds to his face, chest and hand.
The man was taken to Tamworth Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics for treatment of a fractured skull, lacerations to his head, and puncture wounds.
Police were told a group of people stole cash from the man.
Following extensive inquiries, shortly before midday yesterday, detectives executed a search warrant at a unit on Anne Street, South Tamworth, where they seized nail strips for a nail gun and electronic devices.
