2026 Pie Drive

Pie Drive warms up to support Moree Caledonian Pipes and Drums

Jun 24, 2026

THE Moree Caledonian Pipes and Drums Band is again calling on the community to support its annual pie drive fundraiser, with organisers hoping local residents will stock their freezers while supporting one of the region’s most successful community music groups.

The fundraiser offers a range of savoury and sweet favourites supplied by Watson’s Bakery in Narrabri.

Proceeds from the pie drive will go directly towards supporting the band’s ongoing activities, including travel, competition costs, equipment and music education programs.

Pipe major Tim Tesoriero said now is the time to start thinking about warm, meat-filled, pastry-covered pies as cold weather – pie weather – sets in across the region.

“Our pie drive will help people fulfil their dreams during winter,” Tim smiled.

Moree Caledonian Pipes and Drums Band has built a strong reputation, locally and on the competition field, and regularly performs at community events in Moree.

The pie drive is a major fundraising initiative for the band, which regularly represents Moree at pipe band competitions and events throughout New South Wales and Queensland.

The group competes against larger metropolitan bands despite the challenges associated with travel.

In May, they were named winners of Grade 4A and 4B at the 2026 Scott’s Presbyterian Girls’ College in Warwick.

The band also were winners of Grade 4A and second in 4B in the Maclean Highland Gathering 2026 in April, where they were also named third overall in the street march.

For this year’s pie drive, supporters can choose from a range of traditional pie favourites, including minced steak, chicken and vegetable, curry, cheese and bacon, and shepherd’s pie.

Available in family-sized and individual packs, the pies are freshly made to order and have long been a popular choice for local families looking to stock up on hearty winter meals while supporting the band’s fundraising efforts.

The menu also features gourmet options, including minted lamb and chicken mornay pies, as well as apple and caramel family fruit pies for those with a sweet tooth.

Other items available are large and small sausage rolls, lamingtons, cream-filled lamingtons, carrot cake, hummingbird cake and a selection of muffins, giving supporters plenty of options while helping raise funds for the Moree Caledonian Pipes and Drums.

The band currently includes musicians of all ages and provides opportunities for local children and adults to learn bagpipes, snare drum and tenor drum.

The organisation also offers free weekly lessons to encourage new members and help preserve the traditions of pipe band music in the region.
