Archibald Prize 2026
About this event
Australia’s favourite and most significant art award is coming to Moree
The annual Archibald Prize is eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike. Judged by the trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the prize is awarded to the best portrait painting. Since 1921, it has highlighted figures from all walks of life, from famous faces to local heroes, reflecting back to us the stories of our times.
This touring exhibition is an opportunity to see the finalists in the Archibald Prize 2026, and it opens at BAMM with guest speaker Wayne Tunnicliffe, Director of collections and exhibitions at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, on Thursday 12 November at 6pm.
The exhibition is on display from Friday 13 November to Saturday 19 December 2026. Entry is $10, and free for children under 15.
Finalist works from the local Young Archie competition are exhibited alongside the Archibald Prize.
