THE Moree plains has a new information and news service, with the launch of Moree Online News.
The new, free-to-view website is an expansion of Moree Online News social media platforms, and will extensively cover news and events from across the north-west region and beyond.
Moree Online News as a social media presence was created about 10 years ago by local residents Bill and Cindy Poulos, and has steadily grown in popularity.

The regional news service has nearly 20,000 members and followers across three Facebook pages, and Mr Poulos believes numbers will grow as the website gains traction.
“Developing a website seemed a natural progression from our social media presence,” Mr Poulos said.
“We feel this is something the Moree district needs, given there really isn’t a reliable, locally-owned newspaper – online or in-print – in the immediate district anymore.”

Mr and Mrs Poulos earlier this year sold their popular mobile coffee business, Deluxe Café Moree, with plans to further develop Moree Online News.
They established Deluxe Café Moree in 2008, and incorporated Moree Online News as part of the enterprise.

At the time, Mr Poulos worked as a freelance writer for several newspapers, magazines and websites.
“When social media arrived, we immediately jumped on board to push our new business, and Moree Online News evolved from that,” he said.
Moree Online News, the website, is free-to-view, Mr Poulos said.
“There is no paywall, and never will be,” he said.
“We are truly overwhelmed by the local businesses and organisations which readily agreed to sign up for the long haul and support Moree Online News. Moree is a very generous town, and getting behind a concept that is basically untested, is truly amazing.
“We ask our readers to support these organisations and businesses – without them, Moree Online News would never have seen the light of day,” Mr Poulos said.
