At about 6.50am on Friday, October 18, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a white Ford station wagon on the Gwydir Highway, Elsmore – approximately 15km west of Inverell – after checks revealed it was allegedly displaying the incorrect registration plates.

Both men were taken to Glen Innes Police Station.

Inquiries established that the vehicle was allegedly unregistered and uninsured, displaying registration plates not issued to that vehicle, and the driver had never held a driver’s licence.
