All Too Wild salutes at Tamworth for Bartley and Weir

Dec 3, 2024

ALL Too Wild broke through for trainer Tracey Bartley and Tornado Express might head to a Highway Handicap or Country Championship heat after the four-year-old mare’s impressive win at Tamworth on Monday for Cody Morgan.

Tornado Express ran down breakaway leader Harbour Gold before claiming to win by nearly four lengths from Noel Hodgson’s Island Legend in the 1200m Shay Brennan Constructions BM-66 Handicap.

It was Tornado Express’s third race win but her first since joining Morgan’s Tamworth stable from Stephen Jones’s Scone stable.

Mitchell Bell rode the mare.

“I just had her where she was happy,” Bell said.

Tornado Express sat second before chasing down Harbour Gold to spear away for the good win.

“Cody was happy with her before the race. He’s a good judge and it was good to get one on the board for him.”

Morgan has spent the past few weeks and starts “getting to know” Tornado Express.

“She worked really well this week,” he said.

“If she keeps improving we might look at a Highway or even a Country Championship.”

Earlier, All Too Wild broke through at her third start for Wyong trainer Tracey Bartley when winning the 1200m Kel Penfold Finance Maiden Handicap.

Mikaela Weir, pictured at Moree on Cup day, rode All Too Wild to win the 1200m Kel Penfold Finance Maiden Handicap at Tamworth for Wyong trainer Tracey Bartley.

The three-year-old daughter of All Too Hard overcame a little trouble when Mikaela Weir went wider looking for a passage before securing a length win over Impressionism.

She ran 1min 10.56secs for the sprint and looks like she might go on with it.

“She’s a lovely filly,” Bartley said.

“Bought her as a weanling. Had her sister, thought a lot of her. She started favourite at Warwick Farm one day but got galloped on.”

All Too Wild debuted at Hawkesbury and then loomed up at Scone.

“Should have run a place at a big price,” Bartley said.

Meanwhile, Muswellbrook mare Lily Bobtail burst through the middle to claim an overdue win in the 1000m Carlton Dry Boosted Maiden Plate.

The first race on a seven-race program was a welcome result for the Luke Thomas-trained daughter of Harry Angel.

Clayton Gallagher rated the four-year-old mare perfectly, coming from back in the field to burst through and claim a short-head win from Scone gelding Nevermista with Jan Bowen’s Withstand a half-length away third.

Lily Bobtail ran 56.85secs and is on the way up, Thomas said.

“She’s still very green, still learning her craft,” he said.

Thomas paid just $5000 for her, purchasing her from Godolphin.

“Got that back already,” he said of a mare who has now won more than $30,000 in prizemoney.

“I thought she could win first-up on Melbourne Cup Day (sixth at Muswellbrook) but she got caught wide and sat seven and eight deep.

“I thought she’d be hard to beat today.”

He believes a Highway Handicap is on her horizon.

“I always thought on her work she’d win a couple and then maybe a Highway. She’s better than a 1000m horse and will be better over 1200m,” he said.

Scone trainer, Rod Northam, was also mentioning a Highway also but that was more in jest after Speck won the 1000m Tamworth City Country Boosted Class 1 Handicap.

A four-year-old daughter of Bon Hoffa, she has now won two of her five starts for Northam.

“She’s still very green,” he said of the $9000 purchase who has now won more than $38,000 in prizemoney.

Scone-trained Magic Stalker won the 1400m Koobah Performance Horses Maiden Plate.

Trained out of the Anabel Neasham and Rob Archbold Scone stable, the three-year-old daughter of Pierata snared a one-and-a-half length win from Adam Duggan’s All Hunky Dory with Tracey Bartley’s What A Gent a half-length away third.

Inverell trainer Todd Payne celebrated when Sensational Reward led all the way to win the 1400m McDonalds Tamworth BM-58 Handicap.

Sensational Reward won by two and a half lengths from Judge Jack with Just Jacky a short-head away third.

Sensational Reward has now won more than $147,000 in prizemoney.
