The 2025 Moree Show set to be a cracker!

Jan 7, 2025

AMAZING entertainment, popular ring events, a pavilion overflowing with exhibits and displays and, of course, sideshow alley are some of the many attractions scheduled for the 2025 Moree Show.

The April 25-26 entertainment roster features Gill Bros rodeo and V8 Trackskill Ute Show, as well as ring events including the farmer’s challenge, demolition derby, ute barrel racing and the long-awaited return of wood-chopping.

Moree Show Society secretary Karen Munn said the 2025 edition will cater for everyone.

“We have some amazing entertainment planned for this year,” Mrs Munn said.

“The high octane V8 Trackskill Ute Show is returning from 2021 with not two vehicles, but four, and there will be shows on Friday afternoon as well as Saturday.

“The ute show is quality entertainment that rivals most at the Royal Easter Show.

“We will also have the fabulous Gill Bros Rodeo on Friday for our fix of cowboy action and all the usual popular ring events will be there both days,” she said.

The time-honoured Moree Show, an annual event since 1874, promotes agriculture and showcases the talents of local people who display exhibits and compete in events.

The show provides plenty of family entertainment and excitement, as well as a large contingent of sideshows.

“Saturday will see the return of a woodchopping competition after a hiatus of many years, which should be very popular,” Mrs Munn said.

Again, the young – as well as the young at heart – will be well-catered for at the 140th Moree Show, which officially opens at 12-noon on Anzac Day.

“Kids will be kept busy with a reptile show on Saturday as well as the pet show,” Mrs Munn said.

The two-day Moree Show will spill over to Sunday, April 27, with added ring events.

“We are also trialling a team penning competition on Sunday morning, alongside the last morning of the yard dog competition,” Mrs Munn said.

“There is no gate entry on Sunday, so if anyone wants to come and have a look they are more than welcome.”

The Young Woman Competition will again take centre stage, with 2024 Moree Show Young Rural Woman Brydi Holmes preparing to pass the baton.

“Brydi has been a tremendous ambassador for Moree in this role,” Mrs Munn said.

“The Zone 4 Young Woman competition is also coming up on February 8 at Barraba, with Brydi competing against representatives from Groups 13 and 14, which includes towns such as Tenterfield and Dorrigo, down to Quirindi, out to Walgett and across the north-west.”

Moree Show Society is also seeking sponsors to ensure this year’s edition is one of the best in the event’s 140-year history.

“Sponsorship opportunities for businesses are diverse,” Mrs Munn said.

“There’s everything from general show engagement to sponsorship of specific events and a wide range of competitions and the show committee is dedicated to providing sponsors with a fulfilling, innovative and rewarding sponsorship experience.

“Without the support of sponsors, the Moree Show would not be a success each year,” Mrs Munn said.

Moree Show committee is headed up by president Brendan Munn and vice-presidents Lachlan Biddle and Phil Rohde.

Karen Munn’s role as secretary is supported by assistant secretary Sonia Rowe, treasurer Bec Rixon, and assistant treasurer Brooke Muller, also the society’s publicity officer.

The ringmaster duties are again in the capable hands – and voice – of Andrew Pitman.

Committee members who make it all work include Greg Burey, Rita Rodgers, Jessica Biddle, Geoff Cruickshank, Jacque Towns, Cathy Young, Jessica Towns, Damien Meppem, James Litchfield, Lisa and Kerry Whibley, Ros O’Neill, Todd Willcocks, Maddy Gough, Rhonda McPherson and Felicity Whibley.
