Moree: Teen charged with alleged break-and-enter offences
A teenager has been charged with alleged break-and-enter-related offences in Moree.
Just before 2pm, Thursday, January 9, officers attached to New England Police District’s Proactive Crime Team executed a search warrant at a property in Yulunga Street, Moree.
During the search of the home, police located and seized a mobile phone and a number of clothing items.
At about 1.35pm Friday, January 10), police arrested a 13-year-old boy at the Moree property.
He was taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, breach of bail, and two counts of aggravated break-and-enter and commit serious indictable offence- use violence.
The boy was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Saturday, January 11.
Regionally, Police have charged two teenage girls over an alleged break-and-enter at Tamworth.
About 4.40am on Monday, January 6, police were called to a home on The Patio, Hillvue, Tamworth following reports of a break-and-enter.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District were told two unknown people allegedly broke into the home about 2.30am that morning, before stealing keys and a Mitsubishi SUV.
A short time later, police patrolling the area located the vehicle abandoned on Jack Smyth Drive, Hillvue. A crime scene was established, and the vehicle was seized for forensic examination. Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 13-year-old girl in Tamworth area on Tuesday.
She was taken to Tamworth Police Station, where she was charged with aggravated break-and-enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.
She was granted conditional bail and appeared at children’s court on Tuesday 21.
Following further inquiries, a second teenage girl, aged 14, was arrested in the West Tamworth area on Wednesday. She was taken to Tamworth Police Station, where she was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act, however, in addition, charged with breach of bail.
She was refused bail and appeared at children’s court on Monday, where she was formally refused bail to appear at children’s court on Monday, February 17.

In Queensland now the law has been changed. If a minor offender does an adult crime then they serve the time in jail .Why can’t NSW also change the law also for minors. All these sob stories from minor offenders is now just ridiculous. Also, the parents need to be made responsible.
