TWO people have been charged following a three-day police operation last week, with police saturating several areas, including Moree, Pallamallawa, Terry Hie Hie, Gravesend, Warialda, Delungra, Upper Horton, Bingara and Inverell.
The high-visibility operation to proactively target crimes in rural and regional areas, was run between 6pm Monday January 13 and 4am Thursday January 16, by officers attached to New England Police District.
During the patrols as part of the rural crime operation, police also:
- Issued two Future Service Court Attendance Notices for possess prohibited drugs;
- Issued two Court Attendance Notices for middle-range PCA offences;
- Conducted two safe storage inspections; and
- Conducted two Domestic Violence Liaison Officer compliance and bail checks.
Police also conducted more than 50 RBTs along with speed enforcements, vehicle stops, person searches and interacted with rural property owners.
At about 9.40pm on Tuesday, January 14, police stopped a ute on Stephen Street, Warialda, for the purposes of random testing.
The driver – an 18-year-old man – was subjected to a breath test that returned an alleged positive reading.
He was arrested and taken to Warialda for the purposes of a breath analysis, which returned an alleged reading of 0.082.
The man was charged with drive with middle-range PCA.
The 18-year-old man is due in Inverell Local Court on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
At about 6.45pm on Wednesday January 15, police arrested a 45-year-old woman on Halls Creek Avenue, Bingara, by virtue of an outstanding warrant.
She was charged for a number of DV and property-related offences, refused bail and appeared in Inverell Local Court on Thursday, January 16.
Further similar operations are planned for the New England Police District, to be rolled out in the future.
