THE Domino’s Moree T20 Bash Round 2 clash between Nutrien Ag Solutions and Australian Food and Fibre last Friday under lights at Ron Harborne Oval saw Matt O’Donnell shine for AFF, Tom Watts put in a solid knock for Nutrien Ag Solutions and Will Downes respectfully ask to be moved up the batting order next round.
Nutrien Ag opened batting, with Watts whacking 34 runs off 21 balls, while Downes wrapped up proceedings with zero runs off two balls, not out.
Moree District Cricket Association president, Grady Sinclair, said Nutrien Ag Solutions opened batting in promising fashion.
“They got off to a good start, with Tom Watts doing really well. But no-one else really got going after that, with the others in single digits,” Sinclair said.
“Will Downes requested his captain move him up the batting order next round to allow him to get a better feel of the game.”
AFF’s best bowlers were Rustam Maharjan with three for 13 off 3.3 overs; Jeff Annis-Brown with three for 19 off three overs; Beau McMahon with two for 23 off four overs; and Ben Day having a quiet day with one for 26 off three overs.
“AFF’s batting line-up chased the runs down in 12.4 overs with only two wickets lost,” Sinclair said. Matt O’Donnell shone with 41 not-out off 34 balls and Andrew Newton finished 20 not-out off 23 balls.
Alf Newman took both wickets for Nutrien Ag Solutions, finishing two for 18 off four overs.
The Domino’s Moree T20 Bash ladder after two rounds sees Muggleton Cranes on seven points, one clear of Australian Food and Fibre.

Pink Stumps Day last year at Ron Harborne Oval.
Nutrien Ag Solutions have one point in third spot, with McGregor Gourlay tailing on zero.
“There are six points for a win and a bonus point for teams scoring more runs after the first 10 overs in their innings,” Sinclair said.
Round 3 of the Domino’s Moree T20 Bash between Australian Food and Fibre and McGregor Gourlay will hit the wickets under lights at 6pm on Friday, February 28.
This Saturday’s round of games features Pink Stumps Day, in support of the McGrath Foundation.
A raffle is being held, with tickets are available from Moree Golf Club, Moree Real Estate and Econo Lodge Moree reception.
Sinclair encourages spectators to head down to Ron Harborne Oval to support Pink Stumps Day.
“We’ll get going about 12.30pm, and Moree Lions Club has donated their time to run the barbecue for us. We’ll put on a great game of cricket with raffles to support the McGrath Foundation,” Sinclair said.
Meanwhile, last Saturday Camurra Crows bowled Maslina Mudcrabs all out for 40 runs after 12.4 overs.
“Crows shared the wickets between Rhyen Kennedy, Alfred Newman, Will Downes and Harry Woods,” Sinclair said.
Crows batsmen Harry Woods and Harry Downes opened with a first wicket partnership of 10.
“This included an outrageous reverse ramp shot from Harry Woods to get him off the mark,” Sinclair said.
“Harry Downes was the star finishing on 24 not out off 16 balls, supported by Tom Vanderstok’s 18 not out off nine balls.”
The Camurra Crows chased the runs down in 5.4 overs and won by nine wickets.
Moree Thunder beat The Golfies by four wickets in a small run chase.
“Golfies were all out for 52 with their best batsman being Matthew O’Donnell with 29 off 25 balls,” Sinclair said.
Moree Thunder’s best bowlers were Shibu Poulose with four for 11 off four overs and Jason Poutawa two for 11 off four overs.
“Thunder chased the runs in 10.3 overs to snatch their second win for the season,” Sinclair said.
Moree Thunder’s best batsman was Jason Poutawa, with 10 not out off 15 balls.
“Although there were low scores around the ground all weekend, I’m hoping it was a one-off and everyone will hit back hard this week,” Sinclair said.
“The pitch proved to be a bowler’s pitch on the turf and I think everyone struggled with the inconsistent bounce.
“A lot of players in town haven’t played many games on turf pitches and are still getting used to it and different conditions, but I’m confident the level of skill in town is still there,” he said.
