AN elderly Moree resident was rescued when a dwelling on Frome Street caught fire Monday afternoon.
The fire at the brick-and-fibro residence, adjacent to the Mitre 10 carpark, was quickly brought under control by NSW Fire and Rescue officers, who were on the scene within minutes.
NSW Ambulance officers also attended and treated the resident.
Police cordoned off Frome Street at the main roundabout and diverted traffic along Alice Street while firefighters brought the blaze under control.
A Frome Street business owner said the blaze was quickly contained.

A Moree resident was rescued from a structural fire on Frome Street by NSW Fire and Rescue officers.
“The firies were here within minutes and quickly got the resident out of the building to safety,” he said.
The fire was concentrated on a fibro-and-timber annex on the southern side of the brick-and rendered structure.
“The local firies did an amazing job getting here so quickly and getting everything under control.”
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, an investigation is underway after a fire in Moree last week.
At about 9pm on Saturday, June 21, officers attached to New England Police District were patrolling on Anne Street, when they observed a shed within a community centre on fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the fire.
However, the shed, along with a vehicle and gardening equipment were destroyed.
There were no reports of injuries.
A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation into the incident.
