Moree Hospital redevelopment update

Sep 15, 2025

Works associated with the Moree Hospital redevelopment will impact Victoria Terrace during September, 2025.

Commencing today, Monday, September 15, construction works associated with the redevelopment project will be happening along Victoria Terrace, near the Tourist Information Centre.

The works are expected to take up to two weeks and will result in traffic changes.

One lane of Victoria Terrace will be closed during these works.

Access will remain open to the hospital and emergency department, with traffic lights and control personnel in place.

There may be a short wait at the traffic lights.

Alternative access to the hospital main entry and emergency department is from Edward Street into Victoria Terrace.

Emergency vehicles – flashing lights – will continue to have priority access to the hospital.

Hospital management and construction teams thank everyone for their patience while these works are undertaken.

The redevelopment will offer contemporary facilities to support best practice models of care and

provide patients, families and carers a first-class facility to meet the health needs of the community now, and into the future.

The Moree District Hospital redevelopment will deliver a new purpose-built acute services building on the existing hospital campus to house the emergency department, operating theatres, medical imaging, birthing and inpatient unit, pathology, and a new main entry.

Staff, the community and stakeholders have helped shaped the planning and design of $105 million redeveloped hospital.

Hutchinson Builders has been engaged to deliver the project, which will be supported by up to 90 sub-contractors at the peak of construction.
