More blood donations needed following Bondi terror attack

Dec 15, 2025

MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan is urging community members to come forward and donate blood following Sunday’s terrorism attack at Bondi.

The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood has issued an urgent call out for donations, particularly of O-negative in the wake of the attack.

Eligible Australians can donate blood, plasma, or platelets at a Lifeblood donor centre.

Armidale is home to the Northern Tablelands’ only blood donation centre which opens from 10am until 2.30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday and 8am until 2.30pm on Thursday.

Mr Moylan is urging those eligible residents who want to help, to book an appointment.

“Firstly, my thoughts are with the innocent victims and their families,” Mr Moylan said.

“The act of terrorism has shaken people across the country and many people are wondering how they can help.

“Donating blood, platelets or plasma at a Lifeblood donor centre is one way people can make a real difference in the wake of the Bondi attack.

“At this stage, Armidale is the only permanent Lifeblood facility in the Northern Tablelands.

“If you’ve been wondering how you can help, please make an appointment.

“Up to 100 donations can save one life so I encourage eligible people to do their bit.

“It takes about 10 minutes to donate blood, 45 minutes to donate plasma and an hour to donate platelets.

“The need for more blood is ongoing so if you can’t get there this week, please book in when you can.”

Armidale’s Lifeblood Donor Centre is located at 129 Butler Street. For more information and to check eligibility visit Life Blood.

“Like all Australians, I’m absolutely appalled and heartbroken by the horrific act of terrorism in Bondi,” Mr Moylan said.

“My thoughts and my prayers are with those innocent victims who have lost their lives, those injured, and their loved ones.

“We stand together in grief and solidarity.”

Federal Member for Parkes, Jamie Chaffey, said his thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by the horrific shooting at Bondi Beach.

“This is not the Australia I know, and this hatred and violence has no place in our country,” he said.
