FOUR boys aged 12 to 14 have been charged following several alleged property offences at Inverell over the Christmas long weekend.
Police allege that between Boxing Day and December 29, several incidents occurred in Inverell, including break-and-enters and malicious damage at commercial premises, and thefts from motor vehicles.
Officers attached to New England Police District commenced an investigation following the incidents, and at about 9am Monday, December 29, police attended an address in Inverell, where they arrested a 13-year-old boy.
He was taken to Inverell Police Station where he was charged with enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence, destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000, enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner, and breach of bail.
The boy was refused bail appeared before a children’s court yesterday.
At about 10.45am Monday, December 29, police attended another address in Inverell, where they arrested a second 13-year-old boy.
He was taken to Inverell Police Station where he was charged with two counts of destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000, enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner, and enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence.
The second boy was granted conditional bail and will appear before a children’s court on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
At about 12.30pm yesterday, police executed a search warrant at a home in Borthwick Street, Inverell, where they arrested two boys, aged 12 and 14.
During a search of the residence, police allegedly seized items believed to be stolen, along with several knives, including a machete.
The two boys were taken to Inverell Police Station, with the 12-year-old charged with robbery with offensive weapon, seven counts of aggravated break-and-enter commit serious indictable offence, and five counts of aggravated break-and-enter.
The older boy was charged with seven counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, and five counts of aggravated break-and-enter.
They were both refused bail to appear before a children’s court today, Wednesday, December 31.
