MOREE Boars’ ladies tackle team produced a powerhouse second-half surge to beat North Tamworth Bears, 32-12, at Jack Woolaston Oval on Sunday.
Early tries to Moree winger Sienna Moore and interchange Ruby Smith gave Moree an eight-nil lead after 18 minutes but two quick tries from Bears’ fullback Mia Cloake – who converted both – sent North Tamworth to the break with a 12-8 lead.
Second-half tries one minute apart to Shirley May Swan and co-captain Tileah McGrady, set the tone for a runaway Moree win.
Moree five-eighth Shaylee Haines put away back-to-back tries within three minutes of each other and winger Colleen Fernando grabbed a four-pointer in the dying minutes of the game.
Taliah Ryan converted Tileah McGrady’s try and Shay Smith added two points to Shaylee Haines’ second try, giving Moree a commanding 20-point win.

Some of Moree Boars ladies tackle squad with coach Lorilie Haines at training recently. The team is unbeaten this season, with dominant wins against Werris Creek and North Tamworth.
North Tamworth fullback Mia Cloake excelled, scoring all 12 points for the Bears.
Tileah McGrady, who co-captains Moree ladies tackle team with Daharna Wightman said the Lorilie Haines-coached squad played excellent football.
“We were actually behind 12-8 at half-time, so to come back and finish with a 32-12 win was really pleasing,” McGrady said.
“We started slow again and took North Tamworth too lightly. Our defence and attack was clunky at times and that’s something we need to fix.
“We came back in the second half, completed sets, held possession and that led to tries,” she said. “Full credit to the North Tamworth girls – they were a tough side and made us work for the win.
“I know it’s only early in the season, but we still haven’t played our best footy as a team yet.
“There’s still a lot for us to learn and improve on, which is exciting because we know there’s another level in us,” McGrady said.
In other games, Moree first-grade ran out winners 34-18, with Moree second-grade posting a 30-all draw.
The Boars pay at home this Sunday, May 17, against Kootingal Moonbi Roosters at Boughton Oval.
