THE NSW Department of Education Arts Unit showcase Pulse Moree has returned for its third year with nearly 500 students across 14 local schools to participate over the next three days.
The program includes two days of music, dance and drama workshops for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, delivered by Sydney-based Arts Unit staff, tutors, choreographers and selected state-wide student leads.
This will culminate in a performance showcase on day three, Thursday May 14, at Moree War Memorial Hall.
Participating schools include Bellata Public School, Bingara Central School, Boggabilla Central School, Bullarah Public School, Croppa Creek Public School, Fairfax Public School, Gravesend Public School, Moree Public School, Moree East Public School, Moree Secondary College, Narrabri Public School, Pallamallawa Public School, Rowena Public and Warialda High School.
Pulse Moree was created to support the ongoing delivery of high-quality arts resources, workshops and performance opportunities for public school students across far west NSW.
Through sustained access to creative experiences, the program is helping build confidence, aspiration, cultural capital and long-term engagement in the performing arts for students and their school communities.
Pulse Moree continues to grow in both scale and reach, with five schools joining the program in 2026 that did not participate in 2025.
The locally delivered model is helping increase access to high-quality performing arts opportunities for students across the region by reducing barriers to participation and creating meaningful experiences within students’ own communities.
One such student is Pulse regular and Year 12 Moree Secondary College student Amber Muller.
Amber has been performing on the Pulse Moree stage since 2023 and for the last two years has toured with the Pulse Alive Company in the dance cast, performing across far west New South Wales.

In March, 2026, Amber also performed at Sydney Olympic Park in Pulse Alive which showcased the talents of more than 8300 public school students from across New South Wales.
“Bringing the performing arts to rural areas encourages upcoming and new performers to practice and grow their talents,” Amber said.
“It’s about creating inclusion for all – giving rural kids the same opportunities as kids in the city.
“I’m fortunate to have been part of the Pulse Sunraysia Tou and I can’t wait to share the experience with the Moree kids again.”
Students in the Pulse Alive touring group come from all over Sydney, as well as from the Illawarra, Central Coast, Blue Mountains and Central West to assist in creating a meaningful learning opportunity for students and teachers in the Far West Principal Network.
In addition to student benefits, Pulse Moree also provides teachers with inbuilt professional learning opportunities through participation in the Pulse workshops and the final performance.
The Arts Unit Student Access and Engagement Advisor Simon Kermode said Pulse Moree promotes equity and inclusion, which is at the heart of this event.
“The goal of regional and remote performing arts initiatives like Pulse is to provide the community with access to opportunities they wouldn’t normally have,” Mr Kermode said.
“The program provides schools with input into workshop and performance content, ensuring programs reflect local needs and interests and prioritises student experience and engagement throughout the workshop process, with performance as a culminating outcome.
“All workshops are facilitated by industry professionals and tutors from the department and provide a great opportunity for students to step into opportunities within the annual Schools Spectacular show and beyond.”
Pulse Moree will be followed by Pulse Deniliquin on July 30.
