A man has been charged following an alleged attempted robbery in Moree at the weekend.
Officers attached to New England Police District were informed of an attempted robbery at a park on Alice Street, Moree, at about 3pm on Saturday, May 16.
Police were told two men – one in his 60s and the other in his 30s – were sitting on a park bench when the older man was threatened with a knife by another man, demanding money.
The two men reportedly fled – allegedly being followed by the man – before the pair left in a vehicle and drove to Moree Police Station.
Following extensive inquiries, and with the support of a PolAir remotely piloted drone, at about 3.10pm the following day, police attended licensed premises on Amaroo Drive, Moree, where they arrested a 30-year-old man.
He was taken to Moree Police Station, where he was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence and demand property with menaces with intent to steal.
The man was refused bail and faced Bail Division Court 4 on Monday, where he was formally refused bail to face Moree Local Court on Monday, May 25.
