Moree Arts Community Centre shaping a big weekend of creativity May 30-31

May 23, 2026

MOREE Arts Community Centre is preparing for a creative weekend of clay workshops and invites people of all experience levels to take part in a series of hands-on sessions focused on making, mindfulness and connection.

The centre, situated at 397 Gosport Street, will host four workshops next weekend, Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, and offers participants the opportunity to explore hand-building techniques, wheel-throwing and a special five elements air-dry clay workshop incorporating essential oils.

The weekend program continues the centre’s growing focus on accessible arts experiences and community connection, building on a range of creative activities and workshops previously highlighted through Moree Arts Community Centre initiatives.

The weekend begins on Saturday, May 30, with a Hand-Building Clay Workshop from 10am to 12pm. The session will introduce participants to simple hand-building techniques used to create pottery and decorative pieces without the use of a wheel.

A second hand-building workshop will be held on Sunday, May 31, from 10am to 12pm, giving people another opportunity to learn the techniques in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Moree Arts Community Centre founder, Mojgan Habibi, will host four creative workshops next weekend, Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31.

For those looking for a more reflective creative experience, the Five Elements Air-Dry Clay with Essential Oils Workshop will take place on Saturday, May 30, from 2pm to 3.30pm.

The workshop blends creativity with mindfulness, using air-dry clay infused with essential oils while exploring themes connected to the five natural elements.

Participants will create pieces while engaging with scent, touch and hands-on making.

The weekend concludes Sunday afternoon with the Wheel Throwing Workshop from 2pm to 4pm.

The session offers participants the chance to experience pottery wheel techniques, learning the fundamentals of shaping clay on the wheel while creating their own pieces.

Moree Arts Community Centre founder, Mojgan Habibi, said the workshops are designed to be welcoming and accessible, with all experience levels encouraged to participate.

“’All levels welcome’ is a key focus of the program, with an emphasis on small, friendly groups and a supportive atmosphere aimed at beginners and those with previous experience,” she said.

All materials required for the workshops will be supplied.

The events are expected to appeal to a broad range of community members, from people wanting to try pottery for the first time through to those seeking a creative outlet and social connection.

The workshops also reflect Moree Arts Community Centre’s ongoing efforts to create opportunities for community participation through arts and cultural activities.

Bookings are now open for all sessions and can be made through the workshop registration form available via the centre’s events page at Moree Arts Community Centre Events.

People can also enquire and book directly via email with the centre.
