A man has faced court charged over an alleged stabbing in Moree last week.
Officers attached to New England Police District were called to a unit complex on Chester Street, Moree, at about midday on Friday, May 22, after reports of an assault.
Police arrived and were told a man allegedly stabbed a 46-year-old woman known to him, in her arm, through the screen door.
The man then allegedly forced entry into the residence and damaged property before fleeing the scene.
A search of the area commenced with the assistance of a PolAir remotely piloted drone.
A knife was located nearby and seized for forensic examination.
Following further inquiries, police arrested a 19-year-old man on Edward Street, Moree a short time later.
He was taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break-and-enter and commit serious indictable offence – inflict actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail and faced Bail Division Court 5 on Saturday, May 23, where he was formally refused bail.
He reappeared before Moree Local Court yesterday.
He was refused bail and is next due to appear before Moree Local Court on Tuesday, July 14.
Meanwhile, two teenagers have been charged over an alleged robbery at Tamworth.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District were called to a liquor store on Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth ,at about 10.30am yesterday, responding to reports of a robbery.
Police will allege a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl entered the business while a 15-year-old girl stayed outside.
Police will allege in court when the boy and the younger girl took alcohol from the shelf a staff member – a woman aged in her 30s – attempted to stop them from leaving.
The 15-year-old girl then allegedly grabbed the woman by her hair and punched her in the head. Police will further allege the younger girl also punched the woman in her face, with the boy also assaulting the employee.
Police will allege in court all three left with alcohol worth $230.
Police arrested a 16-year-old boy and two girls – aged 13 and 15 – about 30 minutes later at the intersection of Edgeroy Street and Florida Street, Tamworth, and seized bottles of alcohol.
All three were taken to Tamworth Police Station where the boy was charged with robbery in company, and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today.
The 15-year-old girl was charged with robbery in company and was granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday, June 2.
The younger girl was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
