SPRING is here, and that means one thing in Moree – the annual St Philomena’s School Spring Fair is on the horizon.
St Phillies P&F invites the entire Moree community, visitors and tourists to its biggest fundraiser of the year on Saturday, September 14.
Entry is free and the big, school gates on Boston Street will spring back at 10.30am.
P&F president Chris Hartin said there will be something for everyone, including music from the St Philomena’s school band as well as plenty of stalls, produce and goodies.
“There will be a monster raffle and ham wheel, with lots of prizes that have been very generously donated by local businesses,” Mr Hartin said.
“Very importantly, we are seeking volunteers to help out on the day as well as help with the set-up and pack-up.
“The P&F is hoping to make this year’s Spring Fair one of the biggest, and a few more volunteers will help us achieve that,” he said.
Visitors can wander through plants and produce stands, baked goods, tombola, trash and treasure, fidgets, balloons and a kids’ craft corner.
The ever-popular face-painting and hair-braiding will be back and sideshow alley this year will feature inflatable axe throwing, nerf gun duck shoot, a footy passing competition and chocolate roulette.

Face-painting is just one of the many attractions planned for the 2025 St Philomena’s Spring Fair.
“This year we’ll have four jumping castles in the inflatable kids zone and plenty of food and drink stalls, with some amazing menus and choices,” Mr Hartin said.
The P&F is currently receiving donated items, including cakes, slices and plants and produce as well as prizes for the tombola stall.
Donations can be made by contacting Chris Hartin on 0429 423325.
Green thumbs are also being called in from the backyard to help stock the gardening, and plant and produce stalls.
Citrus, fruit and vegie harvests, lavender bouquets, plants, seedlings and cuttings are more than welcome.
The trash ‘n’ treasure stall is always popular and the perfect opportunity to declutter the cupboards – someone’s trash is always someone else’s treasure, and won’t look out of place at the St Philomena’s Spring Fair.
Bric-a-brac, nursery and baby items, toys, tools, books, household items and clothing or shoes are needed to fill the counter-tops this year.
Meanwhile, major refurbishments and extensions at St Philomena’s School are nearing completion.
“Everyone will be able to get a sneak peek from the outside of the massive renovations and extensions that have been happening over the past two years – they are very impressive,” Mr Hartin said.
“This year’s Spring Fair will have many new attractions and plenty to do and see. And, as always, will be a great day for the whole family.”
