ST Philomena’s Catholic School in Moree is calling for tenders for the provision of grounds and maintenance services of the school’s extensive facilities and outdoor areas.
The co-educational school caters for 360 students and employs 65 staff members.
The campus includes large sporting grounds, two playgrounds, sand pits, landscaped gardens, hedges and two agricultural plots, all of which form part of the proposed maintenance agreement.
Under the tender proposal, the successful contractor will take responsibility for maintaining the school’s grassed areas, gardens, sporting fields and general outdoor presentation to a high standard.
Duties include regular lawn mowing, whipper-snipping, weed control, hedge-trimming, gutter cleaning and upkeep of automatic watering systems.

The successful contractor will ensure school grounds remain safe and visually appealing for students, staff, parents and visitors.
Tasks such as removing leaf litter, animal waste and rocks from playing fields, as well as cleaning pathways and entrances, are included in the works’ schedule.
The contract will run for a three-year term, with the successful applicant required to commence operations on July 20, 2026.
School principal Alistair Stewart said all tender submissions must demonstrate the applicants’ ability and experience in grounds and maintenance work.
“With our new buildings and well-appointed gardens, playgrounds and green spaces, we want a contractor who will truly join our team and help our environment flourish,” Mr Stewart said.
“We have a wonderful school community, and we warmly invite businesses that wish to be a part of it to reach out with any questions or submit a tender,” he said.
Applications are also required to include references from at least two professional referees and proof of current workers compensation insurance, where applicable, along with $20 million public liability insurance.
In line with child safety requirements, all contractors and staff working on the site must hold valid Working With Children Checks before entering the school grounds.
Additional services such as landscaping projects, irrigation repairs, line marking for sporting activities and supply of extra sand or mulch may also be negotiated separately with the school as needed.
Interested contractors can arrange a site inspection through the school office.
St Philomena’s School recently officially opened a multi-million-dollar expansion that includes state-of-the-art learning spaces and expansive administration block.
The new building was more than two years in the making.
