A 24-year-old man will face court today (August 29) following a police pursuit ending at Yarraman, Moree.
At about 11.45pm Wednesday, August 28, officers attached to New England Police District were patrolling the Newell Highway, when they attempted to stop a gold-coloured Nissan X-trail.
When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
A short time later the vehicle came to a stop when hitting a fence on Billa Street, Yarraman.
The driver exited the car and fled on foot before police commenced a foot pursuit. A short time later police arrested the driver, who was taken to Moree Police Station.
He was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.
The man was also charged with 13 unrelated domestic violence-related offences.
He was refused bail to appear at Inverell Local Court today (Thursday, August 29).
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate a business break-in and a stolen car at Dubbo earlier this year.
Officers received reports a white Holden Maloo was stolen from a business on Fitzroy Street, Dubbo, between 5.10pm Wednesday, February 28 and 7am Thursday, February 29.
In another incident, between 2.30pm on Saturday, May 18 and 8am on Sunday, May 19, police received reports a blue Holden Utility was stolen from a carpark on Wingewarra Street, Dubbo.
Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District commenced an investigation into the two incidents, which they believe are linked.
Police have released CCTV of a person exiting a silver Volvo SUV near the blue Holden Utility that may be able to assist police with their inquiries.
The person is described as wearing a red and black jacket with a grey hood, black pants and white shoes.
